Silkfatblues,

Very nice work. Are those staples in the keeper? How do you apply them?

I use the same type of staples (think I got them years ago from Ohio Travel Bag). I use a small thonging chisel to cut the slot and a pair of cantle pliers to squeeze the end tabs down. If I did a lot of them, I'd probably make a flat steel bar to serve as an anvil and hammer clinch the tabs shut. The staples work pretty well on belt keepers and are quicker than sewing.

I do have a question on the Python holster. The molding and finish work is excellent, but how is the gun retained? The stitchline is along the perimeter of the holster and does not appear to be near the gun. I realize the glue holds the leather together, but is that going to keep the holster from separating and loosening over time and with use? I have not had a lot of longterm success with retention unless the stichline is tight to the gun. If it works this way, that's great - Just curious.

edit: I know there is a thumbbreak for overall retention, but does the gun move around in the holster after the glue seam wears?

Nice Silk, i like the way you use the retention screws on your holsters. i have to ask, on some of your long barreled holsters, even though you arent stiching up close to the gun, are you still glueing up close o the inside of the holster?

Hi,

I use glue but what is more important I use this fantastic leather that once its handpressed and dryed it stays like that and its very firm and solid, so no gun dancing inside holster... one other important thing is that I use double layer of leather just for the edge peice, but what you cant see in the pic is the inner shape of this leather peice... its shaped to perfectly fit along the gun... so, even with no pressing and stitching only on the very edge the gun will stay in place perfectly... but thanx for asking, your observation is great!!

cheers,
