Did I Get A Good Buy

g'day everyone, just wondering if i can get some input, i just won this bid on ebay for $40, the story behind it is its from a deceased estate, contents of box is unknown other then what you can see in the photos (there could be more sitting in the box)..... this is the start of my leather tool collection and it was bought on impulse

Well, if you consider an average of $5 - $10 per stamping tool, I'd say you made out pretty good with just those alone. Who knows what else is under there

Now, if only I can find more of this stuff in my ebay searches.

I think you did Ok. That daisey-like flower stamp I've seen go for $15 by itself before. You have a 2 piece edge slicker under the paper bag(?) and side cutters. I see an Xacto knife and a couple figure carving tools (with F prefix to the number) too. It would be interesting to find out what that long red thing is at the top of the picture. Let us know when you get it.

Honestly. the only things worthwhile I'm seeing in the photos are the stamps. If they are of decent quality, then you probobly got a decent deal. It concerns me why the electrical tape or whatever it is, is on the stamp handles though. If the majority of them are from starter sets, you might have over paid a tad.

For $40 looks like you have a start, some basic tools and a few other things,, so why worry

the stamps +- 18, @ $5-7 new,,, or more

a swivel knife @ $20 new,,,,

a mallet, $10,,,,

if bought new my guess $125++ so don't worry what anyone thinks ,,

,put to use and its a bargain,,,,,,,

left in the box well?????

cheers everyone, i pick it all up tomorrow so i will post back with whats in there thankyou all for replying and thanks sylvia you might be seeing somehting i dont but i dont know what im looking at, anyway will post back tomorrow arvo with photos of what exactly was in there

I count 21 tools..............even at used prices of about $3.00 plus a tool that is about 63 bucks!

I would say you got a good deal!

And BTW...........I zoomed on the pics and it looks like black paint on the tools...........not tape.

went and picked it all up today there where things like punches, hole poker things, and 2 different size rollers for stitching plus a few other things im not sure what they are yet, all the tools are also marked craft tool usa, happy with it overall

the guy also told me he just threw out the day before 4 sheets of leather ie full hides went to the tip so its long gone

Yes, you definitely got a good deal. Too bad about the leather, but I'm sure someone went "Cool!" and grabbed it. (At least I hope so)
