One More Done!

Hey all,

Finally got this one done and out the door. Made to fit a 15" Mac Book but also a custom sized interior pocket to hold a small 9mm firearm in a holster. The inner pocket has snaps on the flap to keep the weapon secure. Kind of an odd request for me... never had someone ask for a gun pocket! Lol!

Anyway, 6/7oz veg tan with a 5/6 gusset. Dyed with the Tandy Waterstain in Bordeaux (starting to like this stuff actually). Sponge antiqued, neatsfoot oil, then Resolene to finish. Came out really nice! I hope he likes it.

My next project has got to be making a photo lightbox. These flash shots are not doing my work justice. Ugh.

First of all I think the bag looks great, a fine work of art. Second, I'm with you, I am starting to like the ecoflo waterstains and also their all in one's can make a nice antiqued effect when you rub them in on top of a water stain. I am really wanting to try out the eco-flo antique paste. Anywho, I have a question. Do you apply neatsfoot before or after dying/staining? How do you get the neatsfoot to apply evenly? It turns out splotchy when I do it. ( could be because I am using a neatsfoot oil compound instead of straight neatsfoot oil?). Anyways, again, great work!

Thanks! I applied the oil a day after I stained the whole thing, then oiled again after another day. I wanted the oil to soak in nice before sealing. I've never had it go in splotchy, just rub it in with a scrap of white t-shirt. I use pure neatsfoot oil too.

Thank you. My bags start at $475. (Although if I were to really charge based on the amount of work that goes into them they should be double! Doubt they would sell at that price though. Ha!)
