Just an F.Y.I, I was browsing the Tandy Web Site and noticed that they increased the price of their stamping tools from $7.99 to $9.99 and their 2D/3D stamps from $3.99 to $4.99.

If they increased the quality fine - if not.... I only buy when they are on sale.

Also I noticed that in the new ad, their rivets and snaps are on sale fot he same as the regular price at Michaels .... not impressed

Well it doesn't help that Tandy snaps don't. Their stamps weren't worth $7.99 much less an increase. They have the worst quality of any well known tool maker. But I quit buying things from them a long time ago. Cheryl

Hard to believe I am saying this. The newer Tandy tools are better. If you find one of the old ones (a year ago) and one of the new ones there is a huge differance in crispness to the lines. The shape of them is differant too, so you can tell which ones have been retooled. Most of the regulars at Tandy do not pay full price, so the $8 is a more common price. They are still a far cry from the quality of some of the custom tool makers, but at least the new ones can be recomended as starter tools.

I haven't bought a tandy tool in a long time so I didn't know that Aaron. I bought an older alphabet set on here from someone and those stamps are great, but they're craftool USA. I am only going by the 'starter 6 and wooden mallet' I got from them back when. The beveler was enough to almost make me quit leatherwork, thought I just couldn't do it. But it was the tool that couldn't do it. Cheryl

The basic tools that come in the starter set are an embarasment. My advise is to take a hammer and pound them into a rock. They have a lifetime guaranty, so return them and they will be replaced with a non-Z marked tool,

LOL, Aaron, I got them from a seller at eBay that sells all tandy things. I can't so that to him, besides it was a long time ago. Just another 'stupid tax' I paid by not knowing what I was doing. But you know? Pounding them into a rock might be fun since I don't use them, and would never pass them on to some unsuspecting soul!!!!!

Tandy guaranties their tools for life, it does not matter where you got them. The person you got them from just walked into Tandy and bought them, then mailed them to you.

When did they raise the prices? I was just at my local Tandy and stamps were still $7.99. I was there on Saturday (Oct. 6).

I don't have a local Tandy, how would I get them replaced? Thanks Aaron, Cheryl

They are also coming out with their own "pro series". They are going to be released 2013 made of stainless steel, but made in china. At my local Tandy the prices went from 7 up to 8. The price increase on their products was October 1st.
