Members ReneeCanady Posted October 22, 2012 Members Report Posted October 22, 2012 A friend from my hometown sent me two pictures of tomahawk holsters he liked and asked me to make one or the other for him. So I combined both holsters and made one interchangable holster for him by using chicago screws instead of rivets. I also added grommets too just because I think they make it blend better for his style. I only charged him $18 but what the heck. I obviously didn't make a profit from the item but it was fun for me to play with something new. I have never sold an item because I don't make ANYTHING in bulk and usually just make cool renaissance things for my family. Quote www.facebook.com/alteredleather
Moderator immiketoo Posted October 22, 2012 Moderator Report Posted October 22, 2012 Did you have the hawks to fit them or did you make it without them? Quote Learnleather.com
Members ReneeCanady Posted October 22, 2012 Author Members Report Posted October 22, 2012 No I didn't have the hawks I wish I did because I would have "tried" to make a blade cover to match as well. I do have 2 sizes of the metal rings so I am taking them both with me when I meet up with him to see which works better. Quote www.facebook.com/alteredleather
Moderator immiketoo Posted October 22, 2012 Moderator Report Posted October 22, 2012 You are a brave woman. I would have HAD to have the hawk present for the build. I guess that's the mark of a beginner Quote Learnleather.com
Members ReneeCanady Posted October 22, 2012 Author Members Report Posted October 22, 2012 That's the truth! I can imitate almost anything, but the problem with that is, it may not be functional LOL! I hope to God it fits. He lives in NJ and I live in DE so for the few dollars I guess it was worth it to let me guesstimate it. It would have cost him $4 to cross the bridge and who knows how much in gas. Good news is he is a amature blacksmith and could possibly be able to make another hawk to fit it Quote www.facebook.com/alteredleather
Moderator immiketoo Posted October 22, 2012 Moderator Report Posted October 22, 2012 That's awesome! "Hey, it doesn't quite fit, but no worries. I'll just make another tomahawk!" Let us know what happens! Quote Learnleather.com
