Members Jimbob Posted October 23, 2012 Members Report Posted October 23, 2012 Been to the Magie's valley motorcycle museum in NC for the XXX times....haha, they have tons of cool old bikes, all American made....and of course all assecories that go with these early hard-tails!! Well, these kidney belts really did the trick to me....so I just had to make me one and show it off here....hopefully I caught a bit of this 40's and 50's spirit and it shows a bit that I am in love with vintage and antique bikes!! (and mostly American made iron...yeahhh, a few Guzzi's and MV Augusta's are in my heart too...haha) Cant wait to ride back to the museum wearing my kidneybelt.... Let me know what ya all think... Members Jimbob Posted October 24, 2012 Author Members Report Posted October 24, 2012 They've been out of business for quite some time. yeah, since about the very early 40'S....mater a fact, they beat every Harley in racing, where super well build and absolutly beautiful....super expensive too!!!.....made in LA in California.....if you find one in ur barn, expect to get at least 50 Grands for a chunker!!....If I remember it right there are less then 125 known Crockers alive today!!!!! Nicely restored and original complete ones run close to 130-150 Grands!! And Dale Walksler has one in the Museum standing there too!! Love this place... James Quote
Members eglideride Posted March 13, 2013 Members Report Posted March 13, 2013 very cool! I was at a swap meet a couple of years ago- ran into a vendor that collected these. He had some awesome originals- tried to talk him into letting me trace one or two for patterns...and take pictures....really didnt want to share. So I asked "if you were to sell one of these (he wouldn't) wha would they go for?" He said $800.00 and up.BTW people were skinnyier then! You have inspired me to try this! Thanks! Quote
Members KurseD Posted March 14, 2013 Members Report Posted March 14, 2013 Been wanting to check out the "Wheels Through Time" museum myself. Belt looks great, and definitely looks like something from back in the day. Check out this video of a 1940 Crocker Special at the "Wheels Through Time" museum. One of the best sounding motorcycle engines EVER! ;}~ Quote
