I finished covering a pair of stirrups for a friend to match her new saddle.

beautiful job on the basketweave, at first glance you can almost imagine it's really a woven piece of work, and your stitching is so even & consistent! I hope w/practice mine will look that nice. I've never seen a pair of covered stirrups, do you also cover the "post?" cap (it looks tooled as well) with a separate small piece of leather?

Thanks. I have to thank Artisan for the even stitching. That is machine sewn.

These are E-Z Ride metal stirrups. This is the first time that I covered the bolt head. I thinned down the leather then formed it around the bolt and put a rubber band around it to keep it tight. I let it dry, then cut that part of the leather off. I dyed it and glued it on. It will be interesting to see if it stays on over the long haul. These stirrups are easy to cover. I also did a pair to match my wife's saddle. I just made a pattern, tooled it, sewed it together, finished it and then slipped them on with some glue.
