Sewing Machine Table Heights?

Recommended Posts

Just a thought,, what are most table heights on sewing machines,?

My machines are all at 34",to top of table, and on casters, and feel pretty comfortable for me, 6'1" ,,34 inseam legs,

for ease of movement,,is this close to the norm???

singer 211 flatbed and a consew 227r set on top of full table no cutout

also what height do most users, find best for a 441 clone????

for ease of use???

type of work????

measuring from the needle, or top of cylinder arm???

thanks David,,, just wondering....

I have played around with the height of my Cowboy stitcher and finally settled on where I can sit on a bar stool and still reach the pedals. This lets me look down on the throat plate while seated. I did try eye level, but it was too uncomfortable.

I agree with Wiz. Need to be able to look down on your work. I have a neck and shoulder problem so becomes painful to work with arms raised. I dropped my table to as low as it can go. Recently obtained an old piano stool with screw height adjustment. So can easily adjust for what I am working on. A stool is better than a chair, nothing in the road of your elbows when sewing or reaching for something. The table needs to stay above your knees ... obviously!
