Contributing Member rdb Posted August 18, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted August 18, 2008 I'm looking for a source for light weight leather to make linings, etc. I have a source for the good liner kits( http://chaylor.com/new_calf_veg-tan_liners.htm ) , but i prefer to make my own. I have also found a Canadian source, but at around $6 Americano : ( http://www.leathersmithdesigns.com/leather...-hides-lace.htm ), it appears to be a good source, but to me it seems steep. Anyone? ETW Grumpy Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 I just got some calf remnants from the local Tandy store that I use for wallet pockets. It's 1.5/2 oz. I don't know if it's some scrap my local store had after a project or not, but they do sell tooling calf that might work for you. Quote
Contributing Member rdb Posted September 4, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted September 4, 2008 Thanks, ETW Grumpy. I should go on up to Raleigh, and see what they have on hand. Sometimes you can strike gold. I did just pick up some nice kip from local Zack White, it's almost thin enough. I'm going to try it for my idea. Quote

esantoro Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Hey Ed, glad to see you back.I'm trying to make a certain kind of wallet, and .5 oz leather would do it. Thanks. It's good to be back and get back to work. I realized how important it is to get away from everything for an extended period of time once a year. When you come back, you're motivated for a good part of the coming year and approach situations with fresh perspective. Traveling also gives you ideas for projects. Ed Quote
