sheathmaker Report post Posted January 15, 2013 I rolled a new Cobra 4 Stitcher into the shop about 60 days ago and it has given me just what I expected....perfect service. Then about 30 days ago I placed a new Cobra 14 in my shop. It's not a sewing machine, but it is the best motorized splitter I've ever come across (that would fit into my stop). It replaced a Landis 30 hand crank splitter and that extra 8 or 9 inches of split capacity is just plain awesome. I will be able to reduce my leather inventory considerably, because I won't have to buy pre split sides at 2/3 oz. at nearly the rate I used to. I can spit belly, and other less desirable pieces that have a good top grain into sizes that I could not handle on the Landis. Take a look at the Cobra 14 on Steve's web site. Ed in Tx Report post Posted January 15, 2013 Paul, I met you at the Boot and Saddle Makers Roundup in Wichita Falls.. I was just looking at the Cobra 4 and you started telling me all about it.. I said I sewed by hand due to low volume.. Well.. guess what I bought a Cobra 4 in early December after thinking about it for a while.. I have only used an upholstrey sewing machine a few times in the past and I was no whiz at it.. I set the Cobra up and after playing and trying a few things I was able to sew within a few days.. I am still learning for sure and need to learn more about the different plates and feet but the Cobra 4 can make even me look competent. Plus I am doing ore work now since I am not killing my hands sewing by hand every day. We probably both sound like shills for Steve and Cobra but I don't care.. I am just glad I ran in to you that day and listened to what you had to say.. Would love to have the splitter too but it will be a while before I can convince my spouse to let me spend that much money again.. I am still trying to figure out how you did the rollover for lining your sheaths.. I think I am using to heavy a leather for the liner.. Thanks again.. from a fellow satisfied Cobra 4 buyer !!! Wizcrafts Report post Posted January 15, 2013 There is nothing wrong with telling other members how happy you are with your machine and the dealer you bought it from. No need to apologize. Our dealers stand behind their machines and take care of their customers. This sets us apart from some other forums, or some less concerned eBay dealers. Chef niloc Report post Posted January 15, 2013 Paul what happened to your old machine, think it was a toro 3200? Did it give out on you after all these years or did you just want something new? Why did you decide to go with the cobra? I remember in your video you saying how the machines you have can be bought much less money now. I bring this up becouse the cobra is on sale this month, just your luck I guess. Side note I bought one today.

Chef, it was an Artisan 4000 and in near perfect shape, and it now lives with "Leatherman" (from Blade Forums). Steve was with Artisan most of the time I owned the 4000, and I bought the Cobra because of Steve and not because of the machine, although it truly is a "dream machine". Techsew Ron Report post Posted January 15, 2013 (edited) Glad you said "less concerned ebay dealers" because some of us are very protective about our reputation. Agreed on this. Before anyone started selling sewing machines online (websites or otherwise), we started selling machines on ebay back in 2001 and there were maybe 10 listings for industrial sewing machines on ebay. It has become a great place to find a deal on new or used machines - people of course should do their research first and know what they're buying! Anne Bonnys Locker Report post Posted January 15, 2013 Oh yeah! The crude Chinese patcher I sell (based on the 1860's German design) can be had here for $129 from an ebay seller but I sell them at ten times the rate he does for $295. The other guy imports beads, jewelery, sunglasses, beachballs and other assorted crap. I modify, test, make a new bobbin winder, supply a timber base and write my own instructions for the machine. My mobile number is on my sticker on each machine so customers can call if they have a problem! I even tell customers they can buy the machine cheaper - in my ebay ad and on the phone - but they still buy from me because I have a good reputation. Often I even tell them the machine is not ideal for what they need but they buy it as an entry point machine to learn how to sew. Honesty is everything. I have been unwell for the last 12 months and unable to expand the business and import the products I need but still my customers have stuck by me because I tell them the truth. Agreed on this. Wizcrafts Report post Posted January 16, 2013 I'm glad that Darren and Ronny realized that I wasn't referring to them, or any of our other dealers who also maintain an eBay store.
