Decided I was tired of sticking my stamps in a 1" piece of styrofoam. So this weekend I made a tool holder out of a 6x6 piece of cedar 3 ft. long with 97 holes. I have empty holes but hoping to fill those up soon.

Very nice! What spacing did you use on the holes?

First 2 rows are 1" apart for my smaller handled tools. 3rd row 2" apart and they are 7/16 holes. 1" holes in the back for holding my other hand tools. I couldn't keep my work space picked up so this was really needed. Thanks for the comments!

Looks very nice. I've got a tool rack made out of an old yard border log. However, the tools I use most I put in the cheap lil plastic rack that's easier to reach. I also don't keep my shop picked up worth a hoot, and consequently the tools I use most frequently are never in either rack but just laying on the table. When I start a new project, then I put 'em all away and scatter 'em all out again as I progress. I envy people like you who are organized in their work area. My shop, desk, etc., are vertically filed. What I am working on most recently is as the top of the stock, and things that have been a few weeks old are a couple inches from the top...LOL. It's a wonder I can get anything turned out. Oh well. I really like your tool rack. It's looks very functional and very eye appealling. Good work.

Thanks everyone!! DoubleU that is exactly how I work...all tools spread out on both sides of me. Hopefully this will keep me more organized. I might put the stamps I use most right in the middle for easy access. I have a special spot for this holder...hence the size 6x6x3' for a future topic. I got this cedar on Craigslist for $5 so the cost and my labor makes it cheap and custom.

I just bought a piece tonight to do one for myself. Your's looks outstanding. What did you use to treat it with?

KurseD,

3 coats of poly. It could have taken more. It really soaked it in. I didn't have my spray unit set up so I brushed it.
