JustWakinUp Report post Posted September 2, 2008 (edited) Short Story, I had seen a video about a year or so ago on youtube called custom tooled leather posted by ratfinkazoid. I always thought to myself, damn i really want to do a strap with a chic standing in water. Well a few weeks ago I realized that the person that posted that video had become a member of this board. Inspired as I was, I wanted to make sure it would be O.K with this gentleman to do a spin on some of his leather work. I sent a message to hammerhead and asked if he would mind if I did a girl standing in water as a guitar strap. Nice fella BTW folks, he had no problems at all and said he would like to see what I came up with. The colors didn't turn out as nicely in the photo, but it's a sunburst effect with Saddle Tan in the center and British tan on the outer edges and the edges were burnished with a coat of Black Edge Kote. **Side Note, My wife found the image of the woman on a website somewhere within the past year and I had always saved it. Anyway, here's the images of my recent guitar strap. Thinking of selling this one on eBay, what's your thoughts on a price? Thanks for taking a look. As always bare bones critique welcomed. Keyholes not done, will do those when it sells per customers request. They may prefer keyholes or use schaller/dunlop strap locks. ArtS Report post Posted September 2, 2008 It's too good for ebay. You won't get what it's worth. I'd hang it next to my computer so I could look at it all the time. LOL It's a really great job. ArtS

ClayB Report post Posted September 2, 2008 You did a really nice job of that! I also had to ask Hammerhead if it was ok to use his ideas. He posted a pattern in the adult section of the forum a while back that I have been working on carving and embossing (of course). I found carving the faces like that to be the biggest challenge and need to work on them. Yours looks better than mine. I like the muscling, like on the right arm. You also did a nice job on the small details like the feathers. This is a really nice strap! I'm not sure you are going to get what it's worth off Ebay either. JustWakinUp Report post Posted September 3, 2008 Hey thanks a ton everyone. I've really been working on getting my carving up to par with all you pros. I may need to switch gears and get a seat and wallet done.
Hammerhead Report post Posted September 7, 2008 thats real nice, now i want to make more, I put one of my straps on ebay a few years ago, got one bid for my asking price, shipped it off, then a few weeks later a get a letter from the guy who bought it and he told me it was the best strap he's ever had and will use it till his fingers fall off, and gave me extra $20 in the envelope
