Hillbilly tim Report post Posted May 6, 2013 Afternoon all, Having not constructed many holsters I have a question about designing my patterns to account for the addition of a lining material. What type of additional, if any, seam allowance should I include in my patterns? In example, if I was to choose a 6/7 oz side, say HO veg tan, and a another side of veg tan thats in the 2 1/2-3 oz range, how would I compensate? Also looking to mold to the firearm as well. How would the pattern need to be changed, if any, if different weights of leather were chosen? thanks, Bro Tim
Bronson Report post Posted May 9, 2013 I don't really do lined holsters but I'm wondering if you'd just add the thicknesses together and treat it as one piece of leather that's equal to the combined thickness. So, lay your holster out like you're using 9.5/10 oz leather. Like I said, I don't really know...I'm just guessing. Bronson

Contact cement the two together, . . . treat em as one piece. John Bianchi teaches to slightly relieve the thickness of the leather at the bend, . . . it creates far fewer wrinkles, . . . but as often as not I haven't done it and it really does not detract from the holster.
