The first 20-30 pages discuss techniques about attaching straps to items, O and D ring methods, and a lot of information that could be translated into variety for cuffs and collars like this. deborah195412 Report post Posted May 1, 2014 I use the caped rivets, which are totally smooth. I've worn them myself and had no chaffing at all. The rivets are nickel plated steel. The only possible problem I could think of would be if someone were allergic or sensitive to nickel. If you run into a problem like that, sew the suede lining in after riveting to keep the rivets away from making contact with bare skin. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I apologize for going off topic, but your collar and cuff set is really inspiring and I am compiling a list of tools and doing research on the process so I can make a collar and cuff set myself! I admire your work and it would be a huge favor if you or anyone else could help me compile the tools I need for the job? Here is my list so far, still doing research on the sewing and stitch stuff. Can you guys help me with some suggestions? The straps were made of 2 layers of garment weight leathers glued and sewn back to back. I have been wanting some really fun colors, but dyes won't do that it seems and I have heard that paint will crack and flake. Maybe we will buy from them in the future. MetalTips Report post Posted April 8, 2015 They look great! I'm hoping to do something similar, though I'm new to leatherwork so just trying to look for bits and pieces at the moment. In another thread, I was on the lookout for some nickel plates to mount the d rings rather than use pieces of leather. Having said that, I might have to try leather bits. The ones I have in the photos seem difficult to find or buy separately, but commonly seen and used on ones sold on the retail market. If anyone has seen any, do let me know! Usually they don't go this small or have two holes, not four or they are rough galvanised metal and not nickel. A manufacturer in China has told me they make them.
