Members WashingtonCross Posted June 7, 2013 Members Report Posted June 7, 2013 I started out buying Tandy's Contact Cement for gluing two layered belts together and I now I need some more! But....I think the Tandy's stuff is very overpriced and most likely the same exact stuff you can get at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I guess they think by putting "craftsman" before contact cement they can charge $28 for a quart?!?!? What does everyone else use? Thanks! Quote
Members Cyberthrasher Posted June 7, 2013 Members Report Posted June 7, 2013 I use Barge. It's a little spendy, but it doesn't take a whole lot to get the job done, especially when you thin it. I've never had any problems with it. Quote
Members Dwight Posted June 7, 2013 Members Report Posted June 7, 2013 Weldwood contact cement from the hardware or lumber store. Much better product (IMHO). I like the gel, especially for belts, . . . I get a uniform application with it, . . . sometimes get puddles with the liquid. May God bless, Dwight Quote

I mean $28 for a quart of contact cement is outrageous. $10 for the Weldwood...DONE. Quote
rickybobby Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 I started using weldwood several years ago for leatherwork. It works very well! I thin mine with acetone. I get better results spreading a thinner material. Quote
