Members AMMO Posted June 7, 2013 Members Report Posted June 7, 2013 Whipped this bad boy together in my spare time over the course of the last week. Kind of a Day of the Dead theme trucker/biker wallet. Quote
Members eglideride Posted June 8, 2013 Members Report Posted June 8, 2013 Sweet! I might borrow elements of this design for a wallet I just started! Quote
Members AMMO Posted June 8, 2013 Author Members Report Posted June 8, 2013 Right on. Have at it. Skulls and roses aren't copyrighted haha. Quote
Members Harag Posted June 9, 2013 Members Report Posted June 9, 2013 Very nice. I'm doing some tooling and would love to colour different parts in different colours, care to explain how you do that? Do you dye the whole thing black, then add the yellow. I tried that and it didn't work for me. If you dye the background back and leave the skull, then dye that yellow, how do you dye the edges near the skull in black without going on the skull, I currently use a dauber to put the oil dye on. Members AMMO Posted June 9, 2013 Author Members Report Posted June 9, 2013 on this project I used only dyes and a tan antique so you can't dye it black first if you want to have it be a different color. You can use a dauber on the larger areas but you pretty much have to use a paint brush for the details. Quote
Members Harag Posted June 9, 2013 Members Report Posted June 9, 2013 Thanks, I thought that might be the case, How do you clean the brush afterwards? I've tried water and that doesn't seem to work. Quote
Members AMMO Posted June 9, 2013 Author Members Report Posted June 9, 2013 I use water but I try to make sure that certain brushes are used for light colors, certain brushes for dark colors, and certain brushes for black. Quote
Members Harag Posted June 10, 2013 Members Report Posted June 10, 2013 Thanks, I did try water and it didn't seem to do anything, though I have learned I need more brushes. Quote

If you're using water based dye - use water. if you're using alcohol based (spirit dyes) then use rubbing/denatured alcohol. Quote
