Marking Stitching Holes In Black Or Dark Leather

Hi all, any advice on how to mark stitching holes in black or dark leather so that you can see it better? my eyesight isn't as good as it use to be. thanks

I would just poke it with my awl but I suppose you could get a white pencil from the sewing area of a craft store.

I can understand your problem. I too don't have the close up eyesight I used to, and black leather would make it that much harder. I found that just to be able to do a good job sewing, I needed really good lighting and I had to buy my first pair of reading glasses. It was the only way I could make sure I had everything lined up right.

I use a magnifying visor with a light mounted to it for all stitching and other close work. Works out great for me.

You can pick them up on ebay for a few bucks.

White pencil and a LED headlamp works for me

White pen called a Jelly Roller also known as a gel roller . Available at art supply stores costs 1.97 washes off with damp cloth .Nothing better in my opinion . Comes in other colors and has a fine point .

Laugh if you will, . . . good old welders soap stone works pretty good too, . . . just have to have a piece of fine grit sandpaper close by to keep it sharp.
