Samurai Back Quiver

Recommended Posts

Here are some pictures of a quiver I recently made for a friend. He is in Japan and wanted a Samurai carved in it. He gave me full run on what I wanted to do, so I did. I did the inlay with sea snake, as I used to see them there all the time when diving there. The dark brown is Horween chromexcel 8-9 oz, and the carved portion is Herman Oak 8-9 oz. If you get a chance to work with the chromeexcel, I suggest it. It is so very nice, and it is already about as waterproof as you can get! I tried loading more pictures, but it is giving me fits! Comments/criticism is welcome!

Beautiful work. Love the coloring. The white snake skin compliments it really well.

Thank you all very much! The snake skin is sea snake. I bought some a while back and glad I finally got to use some it! It is very subdued, but beautiful.

I like how the background changes its color, very nice. Also the flower on the bottom!

I don't know how many beers it holds, but took over a case to make! ;)
