1911 M1912 Cavalry Holster Question

Recommended Posts

Planning on making th M1912 cavalry holster in the near future and had a question. I looked at some on ebay there is a leg strap that goes on it with a buckle and some other type of buckle not sure. I know it is a 3/4 strap. So my question is. Is there a correct type of hardware I should use and if so can anyone point me in the right direction to some? John

P.S Is the block on the inside needed?

John, I have copies of the original Rock Island Arsenal Drawings showing measurements and specifications for that holster as well as the double magazine carrier. It also shows the leg strap specifications and buckle. If you would like these PM me with your email and I will send them to you.

Thank you Scott for the information. Would still like to know from some one who has made one where to get the right hardware. Not sure what the other piece is. One is a buckle and the other? Please let me know. Thank you. John

I do think if memory serves me that yes the block is needed or the weapon will twist or not fit the holster correctly..

If you can send me the specs for the holster, I might be able to locate a hardware source for you...I've run across quite a few in some of the non-leather projects I do...
