Latest Reins

Recommended Posts

Finished a little earlier for an order. Reins are 8 strand square, romal is 12 strand square. I liked KAW's method of attaching the popper so well, I stole it. Buckpost-43386-0-58256900-1383192537_thumb.j

Very nice. You make your own rawhide, correct? Also, what width lace did you use?

Thank you guys. Joe, I make most of my own rawhide, I have purchased some from Bill Confer & was always pleased with the quality, it just costs less to make my own as I get most of my hides for free. I used 1/8 strings 1/16 thick for the reins & romal & 3/32 about 1/32 thick for the buttons. Buck

Awesome work! How did you do the turnback for the popper?

Thank you much. When I reach the turnback I drop from 12 strands to 8 ( makes the loop a smaller diameter & nicer looking) & then back braid the turnback under a couple of strands. This & the cutoff ends of the strands I drop are covered with the button. I think this is plenty stout as before I put the button on I hang it with a 20 # weight to dry & I've never had one pull apart. Thanks again, Buck
