bucksnort Report post Posted October 31, 2013 Finished a little earlier for an order. Reins are 8 strand square, romal is 12 strand square. I liked KAW's method of attaching the popper so well, I stole it. Buck
rcsaddles Report post Posted October 31, 2013 Very nice. You make your own rawhide, correct? Also, what width lace did you use?

bucksnort Report post Posted November 1, 2013 Thank you guys. Joe, I make most of my own rawhide, I have purchased some from Bill Confer & was always pleased with the quality, it just costs less to make my own as I get most of my hides for free. I used 1/8 strings 1/16 thick for the reins & romal & 3/32 about 1/32 thick for the buttons. Buck
barbiesdude Report post Posted November 3, 2013 Awesome work! How did you do the turnback for the popper?
bucksnort Report post Posted November 3, 2013 Thank you much. When I reach the turnback I drop from 12 strands to 8 ( makes the loop a smaller diameter & nicer looking) & then back braid the turnback under a couple of strands. This & the cutoff ends of the strands I drop are covered with the button. I think this is plenty stout as before I put the button on I hang it with a 20 # weight to dry & I've never had one pull apart. Thanks again, Buck
