Can someone please help me identify the type of saddle? I need a ranch cutter that I can rope off for versatility, and I'm wondring about the horn on this saddle.

Thanks!

Its a barrel racer for sure low cantle laid back made for speed! no idea if you can rope off of it! nothing to big i wouldn't think. Billy Cook makes a rancher and a Wade both are more born for that type of work.

I believe that rawhide wrap, or maybe it's even plastic.( I have seen them.)

Will come off post haste if you take a fairly good dally or two on it.

I suppose you could wrap the horn with an inner tube to protect it.

But I wouldn't guarantee it would protect the lacing on the horn post.

I could be wrong.

What you have is a very nice older Billy Cook cutter. I would not try roping off that saddle. The horn was just not made for that saddle to be roped off of.

I was thinking trail saddle as the cutters usually have a flatter seat near the hand hold.
