TBryan31 Report post Posted January 26, 2014 Can someone please help me identify the type of saddle? I need a ranch cutter that I can rope off for versatility, and I'm wondring about the horn on this saddle. Thanks! -Tim
jbird Report post Posted January 26, 2014 Its a barrel racer for sure low cantle laid back made for speed! no idea if you can rope off of it! nothing to big i wouldn't think. Billy Cook makes a rancher and a Wade both are more born for that type of work. Josh
GrampaJoel Report post Posted January 27, 2014 I believe that rawhide wrap, or maybe it's even plastic.( I have seen them.) Will come off post haste if you take a fairly good dally or two on it. I suppose you could wrap the horn with an inner tube to protect it. But I wouldn't guarantee it would protect the lacing on the horn post. I could be wrong. Randy Cornelius Report post Posted January 27, 2014 What you have is a very nice older Billy Cook cutter. I would not try roping off that saddle. The horn was just not made for that saddle to be roped off of. RC
TBryan31 Report post Posted January 28, 2014 Thank you Josh, Joel and RC! You confirmed what I though was probably the case. Your prompt responses are greatly appreciated. -Tim
Saddlebag Report post Posted January 31, 2014 I was thinking trail saddle as the cutters usually have a flatter seat near the hand hold.
