josiahmd Report post Posted February 26, 2014 hey everyone... just posting my first project built from scratch, i did numerous kits in my youth and the bug bit me to start making things again... its a knife pouch made with 6 oz veg tan, with antique stain and finished with resolene i made it horizontal carry so it does not poke my side getting in and out of vehicles. i learned quite a bit making this with some good pointers from my cousin who does leatherwork . i will put this pouch to the test every day at work.. ... i'm proud of it and cannot wait to start my next project.. -josiahmd
bigorange Report post Posted February 27, 2014 Nice work Mister man, , I wonder if the closer flap should not be trimmed to remove those 90 degree cuts wearing this horizontal on a bely I would think might grab things as you walk bye,, all in all I would be proud to have made that ! again Nice work ! ReneeCanady Report post Posted February 27, 2014 Wow, good job! Especially for being your first from scratch piece! You attacked a lot in one shot. Basket weave stamping, wet molding, and the stitching. Nicely done.
bigorange Report post Posted February 27, 2014 I had forgot to mention how nice the stamping is Basketweave is not so easy to do and the Camo boarder is tight ! very nice again
josiahmd Report post Posted February 27, 2014 thank you bigorange and ReneeCanady for the compliments and suggestions ... its much appreciated , i see what you mean, bigorange , about the flap.. ill see how it does because i'd hate to have to cut into the stamped portion of it..maybe i can cut it right up to it and it will be enough. the basketweave surprised me as to how quickly it can get crooked.. it was a lot harder than i thought it was going to be, you really have to take your time a line up each one carefully... this was fun to make and actually has a calming effect... almost like meditation .... once again thanks for the replies
