Tree Reaper Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 Can anyone tell me why my thread would be breaking on stingray and how to correct it ,no problem sewing leather, thanks. I searched the archives but nothing came up. I'm thinking I should be using a large needle and smaller thread, maybe less tension? I am using a 23 needle and 138 thread. I suspect the thread is being cut by the calcium. Kevin. Quote
Members Sturme Posted March 12, 2014 Members Report Posted March 12, 2014 this may sound odd, but lubricated thread? Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted March 13, 2014 Moderator Report Posted March 13, 2014 Try a #24 needle. Quote
Tree Reaper Posted March 13, 2014 Author Report Posted March 13, 2014 Has Bob got the 24's Wiz? His chart goes from 23 to 25. I don't think lubrication alone will help Sturme, the thread is not only shredding but it's getting bunched up in the race. Thanks for the help. Quote

I get needles in just about all available systems and sizes from Bob. That includes #24 needles. As for the thread getting caught in the shuttle race, the same thing was happening to me. I called Bob about it and he told me to back off the two spring loaded screws a half turn from tight. That seems to have cured that issue. Quote
Tree Reaper Posted March 13, 2014 Author Report Posted March 13, 2014 Ok, thanks Wiz. I'll give him a call tomorrow. Quote
