Jordan Report post Posted October 9, 2008 Here is my 3rd try at a holster for a Ruger. 1st was too small, 2nd was a lefty and then I finally got it right. Now to start the belt part of the order. Jordan Report post Posted October 10, 2008 The retention strap is sewn on the back and come through a slot to the front right behind the hammer area and the holster retention loop is wrapped around it and sewn to the back. I wanted to stay away from as much metal as I could. The snap is in an area that ended up about 1/2" away from the revolver but I glued a thin disk of leather to the back of it anyway. Jordan Report post Posted October 11, 2008 (edited) Yes I think a 44 mag would make some pretty big holes. Here are some photos of the belt that goes with the holster. I still have to cut a liner and sew the thing together. It's time to hit the hot tub my wrists and neck are killing me. May I ask is the holster and belt meant to be carried/worn. Or is it more for show? The reason I as is the retention snap that far down the holster might present a problem in a tactical drawing situation. Just the gun nut cop stuff left over in me. I have a tendency to see everything in a tactical, how can I use this to kill sumpthin mentality. Looks great and I would wear it around the property with no problem, but prolly unsnapped. Jordan Report post Posted October 11, 2008 The customer only takes the revolver hunting and occasionally targets at the range. He wanted to make sure that it did not come out of the holster when moving through heavy brush. The thing weighs a ton so I don't think it would go anywhere. If it were mine I would not use any retention straps. That thing probably kicks like a mule, I will stick with my stealthy Bersa .380 Thunder. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Not to hi-jack but I'm debating a small of the back "mexican carry" style holster as a cool project. I havent found one that I liked and if I made it myself maybe I'd get closer to what I wanted.
