Members Rohn Posted April 9, 2014 Members Report Posted April 9, 2014 Here are a couple of holsters I completed. Herman Oak Leather and Kangaroo lace. Finished with Tan-kote. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. Thanks for looking, Rohn Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Members dbitting Posted April 10, 2014 Members Report Posted April 10, 2014 very nice, do you hae a pattern for this holster? I am fixing to make one for a S&W sigma myself, but if you have a pattern I would love to have it. Quote
Members Rohn Posted April 10, 2014 Author Members Report Posted April 10, 2014 dbitting, I made my own pattern by using the gun for my model. Fold a sheet of paper in half and center the sights of the gun on the paper and carefully lay the gun on its side on the paper and draw around the gun. Then draw another line 3/4 inch out from that line and make your pattern from that. I cut a paper holster that fits the gun and when I am satisfied or sometimes after the holster is made I cut my final pattern out of chopping matts that are generally used in the kitchen for cutting vegetables on. (You can pick them up at the dollar store) Then I have a pattern that will last for ever. That is the way I do with all my holsters. Just make sure that the magazine release is not covered with leather so that there is no pressure on it to release the magazine accidentally. Good luck and happy tooling! Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Members Wild Bill46 Posted April 16, 2014 Members Report Posted April 16, 2014 Rohn , I think your Holsters are quite nice, and I'm especially happy to think about your idea for a pattern from cutting board, Thats genius thanx !!! Quote
Members Rohn Posted April 16, 2014 Author Members Report Posted April 16, 2014 Thanks Wild Bill. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Members bemavu Posted April 17, 2014 Members Report Posted April 17, 2014 Hi, I would place the belt loop a bit higher for better comfort in wearing the gun. I don't know how heavy the gun is, but I'm thinking the holster and gun will turn backwards. (I hope not) Quote
Members Rohn Posted April 17, 2014 Author Members Report Posted April 17, 2014 Benavu, Thanks for the reply. I put it low on the gun to give it a higher ride which I find is what most people want. It is easier to conceal that way. I don't think it will turn the gun backwards. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Members dbitting Posted April 17, 2014 Members Report Posted April 17, 2014 Rohn, Thank you for the information you have given me. I am making a holster for my S&W based upon your design. I am letting it dry before dyeing it. When done, I will post a pic or two. One difference is that I am going to use a clip instead of belt loop. Quote
Members bemavu Posted April 17, 2014 Members Report Posted April 17, 2014 Hi Rohn, When your customers want it that way it's okay. I didn't want to critizise your work because that's okay. I hoped I could say more people made leathr items, espescially here in the Netherlands. Bemavu Quote
