Members Aurelie Posted April 29, 2014 Members Report Posted April 29, 2014 Hello, I'm already braiding with kangaroo or latigo leather and I'm thinking more and more about rawhide. My question is : where can I buy a good rawhide lace ? I already bought some tandy leather laces (not rawhide) and I wasn't very happy about the quality so is the rawhide lace coming from tandy can give a nice work ? If yes, is it necessary to split or bevel it ? If not, could you tell where you are buying your rawhide ? thanks for your help Quote In for a penny, in for a pound....
Members LTC Posted April 29, 2014 Members Report Posted April 29, 2014 tandy stuff is garbage. sent you a pm about alternatives. Quote

rcsaddles Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Me too. Stern Tanning in Wisconsin is the only rawhide producer I know of but you have to cut the lace yourself. Quote Joe Boyles Rugged Cross Saddlery Lewistown, Montana Romans 6:23

Thanks rcsaddles for this address, I didn't know it. Are you using this rawhide for braiding ? Is it working well ? Quote In for a penny, in for a pound....
rcsaddles Posted May 1, 2014 Report Posted May 1, 2014 I personally have not used any of this rawhide yet. I have four 18 inch disks on the way to use in a lace cutting workshop in Sheridan, Wy. on the 14th of May. A friend has used some and I remember that he likes it.
