Hello,

I'm already braiding with kangaroo or latigo leather and I'm thinking more and more about rawhide.

My question is : where can I buy a good rawhide lace ?

I already bought some tandy leather laces (not rawhide) and I wasn't very happy about the quality so is the rawhide lace coming from tandy can give a nice work ?

If yes, is it necessary to split or bevel it ?

If not, could you tell where you are buying your rawhide ?

thanks for your help :)

tandy stuff is garbage. sent you a pm about alternatives.

Me too. Stern Tanning in Wisconsin is the only rawhide producer I know of but you have to cut the lace yourself.

Thanks rcsaddles for this address, I didn't know it.

Are you using this rawhide for braiding ? Is it working well ?

I personally have not used any of this rawhide yet. I have four 18 inch disks on the way to use in a lace cutting workshop in Sheridan, Wy. on the 14th of May. A friend has used some and I remember that he likes it.

unfortunately, that thread is from 2010. pretty sure most if not all of those sources are no longer available.

tejas industries no longer makes rawhide. that was a very old thread with old info. wouldn't count on the other two making it either.
