Members rejerome Posted June 5, 2014 Members Report Posted June 5, 2014 I quick little project I did just for fun. Hand stitched. Horse hide with olive oil finish. Quote
Members Rohn Posted June 5, 2014 Members Report Posted June 5, 2014 Looks nice. Oak leaves are one of my favorites. Quote
Members eransh10 Posted June 5, 2014 Members Report Posted June 5, 2014 In my taste you should add antique gel finish to it. Quote
Members rejerome Posted June 5, 2014 Author Members Report Posted June 5, 2014 Thanks for your comment eransh10! Actually, I put a final finish of Clearlac on it which darkened the knife cuts and tool impressions considerably. I haven't worked with horse hide too much. It's definitely different than cow. Quote
Members rscow Posted June 6, 2014 Members Report Posted June 6, 2014 Yeah. Horse is really different. Hard to case. Hard to carve. Easy to stitch. Takes dye differently. Looks good, though. Quote
Members MonicaJacobson Posted June 7, 2014 Members Report Posted June 7, 2014 Horse hide? Huh! Looks good! Quote
Members rejerome Posted June 7, 2014 Author Members Report Posted June 7, 2014 Yes'mmm, horse hide. I purchased a 20# box of scraps from Springfield Leather. I have used quite a bit of it in holster linings. It was definitely worth the purchase. Mighty fine folks there at Sprinfield Leather, too! Quote
