oltoot Report post Posted June 16, 2014 looks like they are backed up with a leather washer.
billybopp Report post Posted June 16, 2014 Backing this sort of rived with a piece of leather or a leather washer as pictured is a good ides. The edges of the male or post piece are pretty sharp and can easily cut through material when stressed. Bill

meagain Report post Posted August 11, 2014 Are these better than the Tandy rivets that snap together then are pounded and don't stay or bend? Cuz OMG maybe I don't know what I'm doing but whatever I bought really sucks.
JanC Report post Posted August 13, 2014 Anyone know where to get these very same rivets? Style and finish?
Mudruck Report post Posted August 14, 2014 You can get them from Tandy. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/site-search-results.aspx?sectionpath=3&processor=content&p_keyword=rapid+rivet
RiverCity Report post Posted August 17, 2014 Avoid the rivets from tandy, get the solid brass ones from Ohio Travel Bag. I use a LOT of jiffy rivets, and they are different quality. If I remember correctly Zack White sells the rivets from Ohio Travel Bag as well. A note about setting the rivets correctly/well is to make sure you are using the correct length. The post should "just" poke out a little bit. If its too long it will bend and not hold, if its too short it will not set enough. Youll hear people say they are junk, but most people arent setting them well. I can rivet 2 pieces of leather together, and the rivet will either tear through, or the bottom of the rivet will tear apart before it separates. Rough guide if you are putting 2 pieces of 7-9 once together use a 9mm long rivet, if 2 pieces of say 5-7 ounce use a 7mm rivet etc.
