ArtS Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Hot! A real hunk , a-hunk, a burning leather! Art Quote Art Schwab "You cannot teach a man anything. You can only help him discover it within himself." – Galileo Galilei
Members Mattmatt Posted October 21, 2008 Members Report Posted October 21, 2008 Dude did you sew Elvis's mouth shut. Art or pun? Very cool. Quote
Members BradB Posted October 21, 2008 Members Report Posted October 21, 2008 Were are the blue suede shoes??? That looks really good Troy!! Did you do the art yourself? Quote
Members TroyS Posted October 21, 2008 Author Members Report Posted October 21, 2008 Thanks for the compliments! Yes, his mouth is sewn together! No more Peanut Butter & Nanner Sammiches on my watch! I found the skull picture on the net, modified it a bit, then added the shredded edges. I plan on dying the entire seat with Brown Gel Antique, then dying his hair and eyebrows black, then darkening the smooth part of the seat darker brown and finally airbrush the rim and edge of the seat black..... I put Blockout on the skull so it will be considerably lighter than the rest which should really add a cool effect! We'll see this afternoon... Just for the record, it didn't start off to be Elvis, It just looks like it... I was really thinking more like James Dean, but when I added the shredded edges, they kinda formed that deep plunging "V" neckline that he was known for.... Hope the customer likes it.... Quote Troy
JohnD Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I'm really diggin how you did the shredded edges. The way they resemble the cape he wore as well as add a decorative border to the skull, almost like a scrollwork type of deal. Very cool. Members JustWakinUp Posted October 21, 2008 Members Report Posted October 21, 2008 that's awesome. The mouth being sewn shut is a hoot Quote
Members jammon Posted October 21, 2008 Members Report Posted October 21, 2008 Very cool! Really like the style of the skull and the originality of the overall design. Quote Fatt Daddy Kustom Leather
Members TroyS Posted October 21, 2008 Author Members Report Posted October 21, 2008 Ok, as planned, I antiqued the seat today and am at present, stitching the edges but wanted to give ya a sneak preview... I added Blockout to the skull last night before bed (3 coats) and let it dry over night. I started this morning by antiquing the entire piece with Range Tan Gel Antique. Then once dry from the antique, added the Coal Black Dye to the Hair & Eyebrows, then buffed it by hand with an old terry cloth hand-towel. I'm using Black Lace to lace the edges... should be ready for final mount tomorrow morning... Whatcha think? Quote Troy
Members CitizenKate Posted October 22, 2008 Members Report Posted October 22, 2008 Heheh! Left the building, you say? Looks to me like he left the planet! Cute idea... do you think that'll put an end to all the rumors of sightings? ...naaaaahhhh. Kate Quote
