Members Dan28 Posted August 20, 2014 Author Members Report Posted August 20, 2014 Hmmm... Just a thought, but why not make the pouch as a totally separate piece (you can sew it inside out then) and attach it to the bigger bag with heavy snaps, or some other secure means that will leave it removable. That way when the user wants to carry just the clutch, they can just take it off. Bill That is an excellent idea, that I failed to think of before hand. If I ever consider making another one, of these ( I do have a pattern now after all) That is exactly what I will do. Quote

Members Dan28 Posted August 21, 2014 Author Members Report Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) Did you have a pattern? And what kind of leather is that? I just kind of looked at images of purses from Google, found one I thought the person who is getting it would like and kind of created my own version and pattern from looking at the picture and creating some changes. I tend to hold a ruler in my hands a lot when coming up with designs to get an idea how big I want stuff. The leather of the main body is 4/5 oz Herman Oak veg tan from Springfield leather. The small pouch and the strap are the same type leather except 3 to 4 oz. The strap is a laminate of two pieces glued (w/ Barge cement) flesh side to flesh side. The divider in the interior is a laminate of calfskin from Springfield leather, think maybe 2 oz. The zipper border and pieces at the base of the straps are also out of that calfskin. The lining is tan pigskin. I used Fiebings Pro oil dye in Red. It has been rubbed down with mink oil, but I'm hesitant to try Resolene on it now as I've haven't been able to master applying it well.
