Members Sabine1 Posted August 25, 2014 Members Report Posted August 25, 2014 What thickness of leather did you use for the board? Did you just glue it to wood? Quote Paul
Members dkuehn Posted August 25, 2014 Author Members Report Posted August 25, 2014 What thickness of leather did you use for the board? Did you just glue it to wood? The leather is 9/10 and I did glue it to a piece of plywood. Quote
rawcustom Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 This is one of the coolest leather projects I have seen. I love taking leather beyond garments and holsters. Simply beautiful. Quote
mlapaglia Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Very well done. As both a leather worker and a chess player it looks great. I have one suggestion. Next time, dye the inside of the black pieces. It will remove the only defect I saw in the entire set. The contrast between the inside light color and the black drew my eyes to that point first. The slight dye overrun on the edges detracts from the greatness of the rest of the work. Just my 2 cents. Michael Quote The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering. Bruce Lee
Members cgleathercraft Posted August 25, 2014 Members Report Posted August 25, 2014 Awesome work! Never would have thought to do something like this. Added to my ever growing to-do list! Quote http://www.cgleathercraft.com Member of the Iron Brigade.

I'll do it sometime in the near future and make with some pics. Thanks for the suggestion. Also, thanks to everyone for their comments. I appreciate it. Quote
Members dkuehn Posted August 25, 2014 Author Members Report Posted August 25, 2014 Here is the updated pic with the insides of the black pieces dyed. Looks a lot better. Thanks, mlapaglia, for the suggestion. Quote
