Hi Im Joe Report post Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone, I have a chance to buy a Champion wide throat needle and awl machine. It's listed for 150 about an hour and a half away from me. The guy (who is super nice) has told me it "sort of works." He hand feeds everything because he said when he uses the motor it skips and breaks needles. What do you think? Is this worth it? Or am I nuts? Thanks, Joe EDIT: Here is a link to the CL post: http://louisville.craigslist.org/grd/4679605836.html Edited September 22, 2014 by Hi Im Joe
CowboyBob Report post Posted September 22, 2014 It's a good price BUT parts are hard to get,we do stock needles & awls.
Hi Im Joe Report post Posted September 22, 2014 It's a good price BUT parts are hard to get,we do stock needles & awls. Yeah. The fact that is "sort of works" does concern me. I'm not opposed to working on the thing and figuring it out but if I can't get parts that kind of doesn't matter.
Constabulary Report post Posted September 23, 2014 I know nothing about it but for this price I´d buy it anyway. I think there for sure a couple of owners around here who can help you to put it back in service. Even the parts would be worth way more than $150. Just my 2 cents
CowboyBob Report post Posted September 23, 2014 I'll have to agree with Constabulary they really aren't that hard to work on & you can get parts machines @ Weavers auction for less than $100.00.I just sold 4-of these yesterday,it seems like I can never get time to work on them & a guy kept asking about them so it looks like they are going to a good home. When adjusted properly they make a real nice looking stitch as all needle & awl machines do. My wife and I just sold our house and we are living with family while we build. Hmmmmm.....need to borrow someones garage I think.
