mud Report post Posted September 26, 2014 Hi all...this is a teaser of the design for my bobber seat pan. Still have a lot of tooling to do. Also have a question of combining two color dyes. How can I measure and determine ratio. Easiest way to measure it out. Trying to combine Fiebing's Light Tan and Orange. Also can I use neatsfoot oil prior to using the dye. Any help is greatly appreciated.
billybopp Report post Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) When I'm mixing dyes for a particular color, I use some plastic disposable eyedroppers that I bought at a hobby shop. I use a different one for each color of dye so that I don't cross contaminate the dye in the bottle...Even one for the dye reducer. I then use a small ceramic bowl or paint flower to mix them in. Just count the number of drops to get the ratio you need. The droppers are good for a couple dozen uses before the plastic is done in. But they're cheap and do the job! You might also see them labelled as "transfer pipettes". Can't wait to see your finished piece!! Hope that helps Bill Edited September 26, 2014 by billybopp
mud Report post Posted September 27, 2014 Thank you billybopp...I ran out to a couple craft stores in the area before I found the droppers. Will be putting your mixology to the test at some point during the day.
