Realm13 Report post Posted December 24, 2014 Thanks for posting this! Quick question, I've never use a closure like this and am worried about long term use. Does the leather become loose over time and come open easily or is that not really an issue?
Waylon1977 Report post Posted January 16, 2015 whats the size of this or rather, what size paper should i use to print it out? Thanks so much for the great pattern!

Northmount Report post Posted January 18, 2015 whats the size of this or rather, what size paper should i use to print it out? Thanks so much for the great pattern! See post #1. You will have to use the tile function in Adobe pdf printing for your typical home printer, or take to a printing or copy service that prints in large formats. MorningStarL Report post Posted February 4, 2015 I've never done anything like this. Hoping the only dumb question is the one I don't ask: what weight of leather would I use for this?

Thank you for posting the pattern @tboyce! This being the February monthly pattern I'm sure y'all are not the only ones with this question. I know I was wondering the same thing when I started looking at making mine. Oh, good, it's not just me. Thanks to everyone for the pattern and advice and starting the challenge. The Dopp Kits I make are just like the pattern posted except I used a buckle closure system and I use 6/7oz vegtan leather for mine. Over the years I have used a heavier leather, I have also used a lighter leather. The weight leather you use is really up to your liking. There is no right or wrong here, just the makers personal preference IMO. Good Luck on the challenge! Karina Edited February 4, 2015 by veedub3
thefanninator Report post Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) I'm using the same leather I used for January's vertical wallet pattern, 2-2.5 oz calfskin. If you're planning on tooling 6-8oz would probably be fine. Edited February 4, 2015 by thefanninator

istaunton Report post Posted February 13, 2015 Thanks Tom. Serious amount of good will your way with all these patterns. Made the drop kit and really happy with it. Next time around I might cut the sides attached to the body. Will make assembly a bit easir but might not look as nice.
