Members MonicaJacobson Posted December 21, 2014 Members Report Posted December 21, 2014 Rohn, super cool! I am drooling over it. Since real gator isn't in my future at the moment, I'm getting some from Springfield asap. Thanks for posting! It's always great to see your work. Members Rohn Posted December 22, 2014 Author Members Report Posted December 22, 2014 Thanks for the great comments. I will also be doing more wallets with the type of leather form Springfield. I like it a lot. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Chief31794 Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Rohn, I agree with everyone else, really nice looking wallet and great job on the lacing. I use their interiors a lot, I also get Faille cloth from Kevin that I use to line the wallet with instead of pigskin, a little thinner, but really is kind of classy as well. Either works great. Members Rohn Posted December 22, 2014 Author Members Report Posted December 22, 2014 Thanks Chief. I appreciate the nice comments. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Members Oldtoolsniper Posted December 23, 2014 Members Report Posted December 23, 2014 That is really nice. I can hardly keep my stitches looking neat and organized, I can't imagine the mess I'd have trying that lacing. I know you have not used it long but I would be interested to see how long it holds up to everyday use. I'm going to get some to try it out too! Quote
Members Rohn Posted December 23, 2014 Author Members Report Posted December 23, 2014 Oldtoolsniper, Thanks for the nice comments. I really do believe this lacing will hold up very well. On my last billfold it lasted over 25 years and I carried it every single day, although it was broken at the folds. I believe this lacing pattern to be stronger than the double loop I used before. The lace is also a very high quality lace form Springfield Leather. I do believe it will last me a very long time. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Members Oldtoolsniper Posted December 24, 2014 Members Report Posted December 24, 2014 Sorry, I have no doubt the lacing will hold up. I was referring to the coloring and texture on the leather.. Quote
Members Rohn Posted December 24, 2014 Author Members Report Posted December 24, 2014 No apology necessary Oldtoolsniper. I am also anxious to see how this leather wears. I guess time will tell. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
Members Eddie1968 Posted December 24, 2014 Members Report Posted December 24, 2014 that looks really really good Rohn! I have purchased a few of the interiors as well. I bought the classic vintage. i really like them as well. I have usually used the 'unpunched' interiors and stitched with my machine. However there was some confusion with my last order and i received the prepunched instead. Which is ok except for not sure what best way is to punch holes on wallet back to match interior? Is this what you ordered? and if so how did u punch the exterior holes to match? Again I really like what you've done here! looks awesome!! Thanks! Eddie Quote
Members Rohn Posted December 24, 2014 Author Members Report Posted December 24, 2014 Thanks for the nice comments Eddie. The interior I used is not punched so I punched the lacing holes together with the back. I guess if I had the pre-punched interior, I would glue the back and interior together and use the holes that are already punched for my guide holes to punch holes in the back. Quote Rohn(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)
