Members MonicaJacobson Posted January 26, 2015 Members Report Posted January 26, 2015 Yeah.. like me. Just finished what I was working on, so I can finish my wallet. I had cut it out of ... yeah... 4 oz. chrome tanned, because that's what I had... but it was obviously going to be way too thick, even without cards, so I need to cut out the inside again out of some thinner veg tan I just acquired.I'm enjoying seeing all the cool variations people are coming up with! alexitbe Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) Finally finished the 1st project. I have made mine slightly smaller so as to take UK notes and also I have only put 3 cards either side. I used 5mm english bridle leather which I skived down by hand to 3mm for the outside which I then lined with doe skin and then skived that down along the edges of were the pockets where to go. Got to agree, the pockets are really thoughtfully done... And hand skiving the whole piece of leather. That's real dedication and I never thought it could be done. This has solved for me something on my first project, which i had been struggling on how to achieve ie to pare down a folding gusset, which is almost a A4 in size. Great work! Members TheLoudOne Posted January 27, 2015 Members Report Posted January 27, 2015 Hi all! Unfortunately I just stumbled onto this monthly challenge and looking forward to seeing the outcome. If it's okay I would like to jump in on the next. Quote
rawcustom Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 Hi all! Unfortunately I just stumbled onto this monthly challenge and looking forward to seeing the outcome. If it's okay I would like to jump in on the next. Hey I tried this line and was challenged with the fact the month wasn't over yet. Counting today, you still have 5 days! Quote
Members TheLoudOne Posted January 27, 2015 Members Report Posted January 27, 2015 I thought the 25th was the deadline? Guess I'll get cracking if I am wrong. Quote
Members TRHLeather Posted January 27, 2015 Members Report Posted January 27, 2015 Joined late but managed to get it done before the month ended. I just used some 5 oz. veg tanned that I had laying around. It gave me a lot of practice using my new round knife, both cutting and skiving. I had never used one before and now I'm not sure I could do the work without it. Also the first opportunity to shoot dye with an airbrush. So much better control on the amount of dye. I used a base of Eco-Flo professional waterstain - purple and shaded it with Fiebing's USMC black. Any input/criticism is welcome. Quote Thanks, Tom Hodder TRH Leather www.facebook.com/TRHLeather
