C,

Pfaff never made their own shoepatcher. The first contracted with Adler to buy some of their machines and stands hence the 230-1 model. Later, they contract with Claes and marketed the machine under the Metro Spezial name calling it a 8345, 8346 and even a 9346 model. It's subclasses were the 310. #20 and #30.

I would love to have that Pfaff 230-1 machine. it is a 30-1 in everyway but the name.

C,

I almost forgot. I have a few of the binders for the 30 class Adler. Singer also made them. I will try to get pictures of them for you. The one on Ebay in Germany is very reasonably price at $55.00Euros.

Pay me for gas + expenses and I will pick it up for you - quite a trip all across Germany. ;)

I will let others have the binder as I´m not a collector and have no use for it. I guess it will go higher than 55€

Did you know of Martin Decker patchers?

Working on this with a friend who has a cylindrical grinder. We may be able to manufacture one to fit from a 29k bobbin but they are going to cost about $US100 each so I am not sure if it is worth the effort.

C.S. Jones

[this one is missing the shuttle and a Singer 29 is too big to fit..any ideas what shuttle might be suitable ?]

I was lucky enough to spend three days with Steve - Singermania - last week and I am still drooling over his machines. It was a business trip as I import 441's and other heavy machines from China but I wanted to spend more time playing with his 100yo machines than I did with the new ones. 16 Pearson No6's in one place is something most will never see.

I think I have several Mundloss machines but they are a unique design domestic. That one looks like a straight out 29k.

I have never put the 29 and 30 side by side but from other experience I suspect that Adler bought production licenses from Singer for various machines and then developed their own versions.

Nope - straight Adler 30-1 ;)

Of course not (not exactly sure what you mean) but the one I have linked is obviously an Adler 30-1 but MUNDLOS labeled and not a Singer 29K.

C,

That looks an awful lot like a 18 class Durkopp. Must have been a lot of companies in Germany making shoe patcher or a lot of private labeling!!! Beautiful machine!!

Glen, I have found another patcher brand :)

GOERICKE, Bielefeled (once again a CO. from Bielefeld) also sold a Duerkopp type patcher

The writing says "GOERICKES ORIGINAL SCHUHMACHER MASCHINE"

GOERICKE was known for bicycles and motorcycles (at least in Germany)

C,
That looks like a Durkopp. I wonder if Durkopp dis a bunch of private labeling for other companies. If so, we know it was before 1933 because that is when Hitler seized the Durkopp company and turned it into a bayonet factory. What I would give to be in Germany for 6 months and purchase shoe patchers! There are a lot there and lots of odd ones for sale.

C,

Thanks for another pic of another brand of shoepatcher. Obviously, this was a Patent Elastic machine and stand with the pedal cast for Husquvarna. Thanks.

That is a Claes. Notice it resembles a Adler in a a lot of places but the take up lever shows it to be a Claes. Thanks C! Keep them pics coming!!!

Constabulary,

The line below from the eBay listing doesn't seem to translate clearly with Google Translate. Is it saying the item pictured is being offered for sale or one that looks like it? Thanks a lot.

Verkaufe wie im Bild eine alte dekorative Schuster oder Sattlernähmaschine.
