Members jimi Posted February 8, 2015 Members Report Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) Hi Everyone, if you have a singer class 45k sewing machine then you will know how difficult it is to find an Original users manual for this class of machine. Either they were all burned? or someone has a big stash of them somewhere??. I have finally come across one which was in between a few other manuals and would like to share with you 45k users as i know how difficult it is to get your hands on one. i cant get it up in PDF (too big) so you will have to do this yourself afterwards. I will also add some more information regarding the class 45k machines which i managed to find in the past couple of years. feel free to add any other information regarding this machine to this topic as this kind of information should not be kept in a drawer. Members jimi Posted February 19, 2015 Author Members Report Posted February 19, 2015 Here are some more pages from an older book. Quote
Members jimi Posted February 20, 2015 Author Members Report Posted February 20, 2015 Curious to see decals on the base, the square work table and the double row of teeth feed dog on the 45k21 page. also you can see that the bobbin winder is a one piece arm and not yet an articulated one. Quote
Evo160K Posted February 20, 2015 Report Posted February 20, 2015 Jimi, Those documents are sensational, just incredible!! Where did you find them? Can you image what those prices equate to today? Quote
Members jimi Posted February 20, 2015 Author Members Report Posted February 20, 2015 !! probably a months wages or more Al?? you can find these documents and many more of other singer class sewing machines here...http://www.sil.si.edu/DigitalCollections/Trade-Literature/Sewing-Machines/CF/single-record.cfm?AuthorizedCompany=Singer%20Manufacturing%20Company you can find quite a lot of information here, and remember to look and see how many pages they have when you open the document because they may differ. some have one or two and others have 9-10 pages, all interesting stuff. Members Darren Brosowski Posted February 23, 2015 Members Report Posted February 23, 2015 I have original manuals for a lot of machines but the 45k has eluded me. There is a modernised version on the net somewhere. You could always use the Chinese GA5 manual. 5. Wear noodles Quote
Members jimi Posted February 23, 2015 Author Members Report Posted February 23, 2015 Thanks darren, i will check it out. Quote
Members Darren Brosowski Posted February 23, 2015 Members Report Posted February 23, 2015 The GA5 manual is useless apart from being a great stress reliever when everything seems to be going wrong. Wear Noodles = insert needle. Obvious really Quote
Members jimi Posted February 23, 2015 Author Members Report Posted February 23, 2015 Did you read this post from the start darren??? lol your on another wavelength dude haha. i still dont get the noodles bit? lol and i am not looking for a manual, i have put one up? check it out. Quote
Members Darren Brosowski Posted February 25, 2015 Members Report Posted February 25, 2015 Just pointing out the high class of instructions that come with an almost identical machine. The GA5 manual provides a laugh every line and section 5. Wear noodles is what it says for inserting the needle. Quote
Members jimi Posted February 25, 2015 Author Members Report Posted February 25, 2015 ok now i get you, i will have to check that manual out "for laughs" how is the biz for the 45k parts getting along? i hope to do the same a bit further on in time, get some original parts then see if i can make new ones for selling. Members Constabulary Posted February 25, 2015 Members Report Posted February 25, 2015 Nice idea Jimi! Quote
Members jimi Posted February 25, 2015 Author Members Report Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) i think i need a small lathe/milling machine or something to start with? a lot of parts look easy to do and everyone sells(if they sell) always the same parts?? the singer parts list is full of options for these machines (and many others) but i always see the same 3 parts again and again "i hope it dosent just stay as an idea folker!!" By the way folker, do you sew canvas on your machines?? I mean new canvas? If so what types of canvas is there available these days? Edited February 25, 2015 by jimi Quote
