Members Deb59 Posted November 17, 2008 Members Report Posted November 17, 2008 I had a request to make a portfolio. This is for a truck driver who's CB Handle is Tomahawk. His wife ordered it to give to him for Christmas. She wanted him to be able to use either a notebook, or clipboard, have a place for loose papers, calculator, and credit cards. This was a challenging project as it had a number of "first's" for me. One of them was making the card pockets inside the liner. Another was painting on leather, the third was trying the Rob Barr Feather technique. (also my first posting on leatherworkers.net) It was challenging and a lot of fun! Quote
Members Kowboyboots Posted November 17, 2008 Members Report Posted November 17, 2008 That is really nice! Did you come up with the guts your self or was that part a kit? Quote
Members Deb59 Posted November 17, 2008 Author Members Report Posted November 17, 2008 That is really nice! Did you come up with the guts your self or was that part a kit? I designed the inside myself. My daughter tooled a kit from Tandy for a small portfolio a number of years ago. I took the basic idea from that and built from there. I did have a little trouble with the light weight lining pulling away at the lacing when folding over, so I took out the lacing and put a re-enforcement strip around the stress areas that matched the outside and re-laced it. and put the latch on a leather strip to allow a little extra give. Members wildrose Posted November 17, 2008 Members Report Posted November 17, 2008 I had a customer request a folio with credit card slots too, and I thought that was the hardest thing to design. You did a great job, it's beautiful! Quote
