Members Grey Drakkon Posted April 21, 2015 Members Report Posted April 21, 2015 So like a silly twit I bought these guys from Amazon: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EI3TPW4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 without realizing the studs were slightly cone shape. How do I figure out what shape stud setter I need for them? Or do I just put some really thick leather under what I'm attaching them to and pound a pointed hole into it over time? Quote
Members billybopp Posted April 22, 2015 Members Report Posted April 22, 2015 If you can't find an exact match, thick leather can work pretty well. I've used that trick with odd-shaped studs and stuff in the past. Bill Quote
Members Grey Drakkon Posted April 22, 2015 Author Members Report Posted April 22, 2015 I experimented with a thick scrap by soaking it and pressing the point into it. Clumsy, but it worked. Quote
Members TIMCO now SX Posted April 23, 2015 Members Report Posted April 23, 2015 You could try using balsa wood. It may be a little more stable than leather and soft enough to not scratch the hardware. Take a countersink bit and bore into the wood to the desired depth and diameter... Quote
