Regimental Quartermasters has two sizes http://www.regtqm.com/Finial-or-stud-p/diy-101.htm, Also Blockade runners has them, however I find there shipping cost to be high and they only have one size. http://www.blockaderunner.com/Catalog/catpg27.htm

What's on the other side? Are these riveted or threaded for a nut?

I could make small quantities of these on a lathe.

IT's like a copper rivet and burr. There is a stud on the back side a burr is seated down the stud against the leather then the end of the stud is peened. hard wood to hol

I got some of the short 'spikes' with a screw back, ran the right size screw in, cut the head off, chucked it in a drill and polished the nickel plating off, then used a file (while still in the drill) and turned it down to the proper profile. It sounds difficult, but really isn't. I'd had the spikes for years and years and realized they were brass, so, sandpaper and a file, LOL.
