Has anyone ever used silver dye on tooled leather? Is there a dye for this? Tandy has a silver acrylic, but I'm afraid it might eventually rub off. Not sure what to do! :helpsmilie:

Aww man! I might have put this in the wrong place. Moderators, please move if need be.

I have used a silver marker and had it turn out great. Worked good for accents and outlines. Not sure how it would work for large areas tho. If I can find the one I used, I will post exactly what it is.

I would recommend using an airbrush. Createx pearl silver is what I use.

Here is an inlayed tank panel I made.

I used gold craft acrylic on several items, including the wallet that I use every day. I don't have any trouble with it rubbing off, and I used Super Sheen on top. I haven't had any call for silver, but I bet it would work the same. (And by craft acrylic, I mean like Plaid Paint, not the good stuff from the fine art department.)

Found it. Its just a metallic silver Sharpie. ;) Like I said, works good for outlines and accents. Also works for marking out the pattern on the back of the velvet for my rosary pouch lining.

I really need to learn how to use an airbrush.

I use gold, silver and copper from a Danish company ROC but i think there are other brand silver dye in US available. This stuff is just soooooo sweet to work with. It covers black like nothing else I tell you, except copper wich is a bit harder to get on but not as tideous as going with white acrylic on black.

First three is gold antiqued with saddletan and the Motörhead is actually silver wich turns gold/champagne with the antiquing.

If you can get silver dye I definetly recommend give it a try.
