Members BigMatt Posted May 5, 2015 Members Report Posted May 5, 2015 I have been working with leather for a while and I have been interested in taking better picures of my stuff. Here is my blog for displaying my recent work. Let me know what you think. https://tiekenleather.wordpress.com/ Quote
Members Bruce H Posted May 5, 2015 Members Report Posted May 5, 2015 Very Nice Work! Excellent photos! Quote
Members BigMatt Posted May 7, 2015 Author Members Report Posted May 7, 2015 Thanks, I am trying to learn how to take pictures. I think that is harder than working with leather! Quote
Members MonicaJacobson Posted May 7, 2015 Members Report Posted May 7, 2015 Hey Matt, the webpage and the pictures look great! I agree about picture difficulty. Each leather is different and needs a slightly different pictures. I like the pictures on the wood better than the ones on the carpet. Also, it's really fun looking through your process pictures. Members BigMatt Posted May 7, 2015 Author Members Report Posted May 7, 2015 Thanks Monica. Yours is an opinion I hold in high regard. I have been meaning to take better pictures of the black purse on the carpet, it slipped my mind when we were taking the other pictures. Quote
Members MonicaJacobson Posted May 8, 2015 Members Report Posted May 8, 2015 Ha, thanks - I still haven't gotten up the courage to make a briefcase like the one on your blog. I was looking really closely at the gusset to see how it went together. Quote
King's X Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 Beautiful work. I know how much time it takes a to care for a blog. Keep it up! Quote

I was looking really closely at the gusset to see how it went together. Monica, there is a really good illustration of the 3 part gusset at http://www.gizzi-leather.com/how_its_made_01.html I don't have that groover like he has though, I just use a stitch groover with multiple passes to get the crease nice and sharp. Thanks King, it is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Edited May 8, 2015 by BigMatt Quote

Members MKuusk Posted June 13, 2015 Members Report Posted June 13, 2015 Great work. Nice and clean!Since you are working with leather I would suggest taking pictures in the nature, to emphasize the organic aspect.Rivers, forest, sunrises, sunsets, .... On the table and in the studio images always look one dimensional and flat. For me the rustic PC bag and Wallet were the best, in those terms. They gave me an idea of how they would look in my life/yard/house. Nice! Quote
