types of stiching

i have been using a saddle stitch on most of my watch bands but i was wondering if any of you had an idea of different types of stitching i could use.

i have heard the term 'small stitch' but not sure what that is

and here is a poor attempt and baseball/football type stitch

any suggestions are welcome. an i am still new at leather so i still need to work on my finishing .

You can try buckstitching, or lace the edges, or even an applique lace.
