J W Craftsman Report post Posted August 19, 2015 Over the next several weeks I will introducing/offering several of the tools I make for leather working. First up is my belt/strap stitching pony. Handmade using 3/4" cherry wood sanded smooth to 400g and finished with tongue oil to give the cherry a nice durable finish. As with leather, cherry will darken over time. Not only does it serve as a stitching pony for straps and belts it also works great for holding your piece during your burnishing treatment. The pony measures: Base- 6" wide 16" long Rails- 3" wide 24" long The pony features 4 knobs for securing your workpiece, 2 lower knobs allowing the pony to be tilted and rails are lined with cork so no marking up your workpiece while its clamped in the pony. Price is $60.00 shipped in the U.S. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery as each item is made at time of order. Any questions or interest in ordering please contact me at jwcraftsman@gmail.com -Jason
capsterdog Report post Posted August 22, 2015 Beautiful craftsmanship, sweet idea too! I love cherry wood, such a calming color of wood.
J W Craftsman Report post Posted September 10, 2015 Two of the three strap ponies that were shipped out early this week. All made from rough cut cherry which I surface and mill. Much like leather the cherry will darken and patina over time. Slight price increase to $70.00 shipped as I was given an incorrect shipping quote by my local USPS. saints1589 Report post Posted September 10, 2015 I'm at work and pictures do not show up...so if there is a pic I can't see it. I'm definitely looking into this piece but won't be able to see until I get off of work and get home....about 4:45 EST. Hope it's just what I'm looking for.
