Ian Report post Posted December 1, 2008 Is leather the most magic material ever, or what? I needed a hide of naked garment leather for a pair of riding pants I'm doing for a customer. After getting samples from every supplier on the face of the earth (it seems), I settled on an Austrian naked leather from Hide House. Got it today - MAN, this is the most beautiful leather I've ever bought. Most expensive too, and also the biggest hide (65 sq feet) Sounds crazy, but I can't get over this stuff. My next order is a jacket, and if this doesn't blow the customer away, nothing will. I've had some dissapointments as far as leather orders go, but this isn't one of them. I like this stuff so much, I could sleep with it.
Johanna Report post Posted December 1, 2008 Ian- we are sending over the Leatherworker Anon squad to hide your credit card from you while you calm down. Deep breaths (no- don't be sniffing the leather now!) Broncobuster will be sending you a box of broken zippers to help snap you back to reality. Somebody reach up and grab Ian off of Cloud Nine before he hurts himself. We're all in this together, have to look out for each other. ~J

ArtS Report post Posted December 2, 2008 I just got an my first order today from Water House Leather. They had a great sale so I thought I'd give them a try. I'm real happy with them. I bought Maple Deer Soft Cowhide ($56.25) and Light Weight Smooth Garment Cowhide Leather Hides ($67.00). They are super. I'll have to buy from them again. It's always exciting to get new leather. Man, what is wrong with me? I'm excited about new leather! LOL Art

Does it have a lot of finish? i.e. is the grain visable. I'm looking for 21/2 oz and am always scared to take the plunge just from pics online. Actually, I live 90 minutes from there and was going to take a drive out on Friday. Tell me more.

Not a lot of finish and you can see the grain but no too much. I think you'll like it. It was just what I was looking for. Art
