Members Victor Posted January 26, 2008 Members Report Posted January 26, 2008 Hiya again This is an old school handle for a stock whip. The body is 16 plait and the handle is 32. The laces on the handle are different from the laces on the body. Three different kinds of knots pineapple, spanish ring and long turks head. Unfortunately it was not made using any of the techniques described in the "Covering handles for crops" post. I wish it was that simple. all the best Victor Quote
Members rawhide1 Posted January 26, 2008 Members Report Posted January 26, 2008 Victor Once again outstanding work!! Do you use any kind of finish on your work. Thanks Mike Quote
Members Opagon Posted January 26, 2008 Members Report Posted January 26, 2008 That is drop dead gorgeous!!! It will be awhile before I can turn out a piece like that and apperciate you posting and giving me something to work towards. Heather Quote
Drac Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 great work as usual. following the directions in the "covering handles for crops" is perfect for getting a great flogger like what I make (sturdy, functional, and looks good), but your work is functional art and those ideas go out the window. you really should do a tutorial. Members Duke Posted January 26, 2008 Members Report Posted January 26, 2008 I agree with drac. a tutorial would be awesome! do you soap your strings first? how do you prep them before you braid? some clues to a newb please. Quote
Members Victor Posted January 28, 2008 Author Members Report Posted January 28, 2008 Thanks for all the kind words guys. A tutorial would end up being as long as a book. This was a very elaborate process. Especially forming the shape of the handle. The time involved is tedious at best. The grip alone took about 12 hrs of nonstop work just to braid it. All the best Victor Quote
